SUSTAINABILITY:
IT Starts with us
When it comes to sustainability, we all have our part to play. Which is why Henkel is working towards implementing net zero across all of our brands, delivering social impact for our communities, and creating transparency with our trusted partners. We’re also committed to supporting and helping our customers to make changes - however small - that contribute to protecting the planet.
YOU CAN BE THE CHANGE
Small efforts can make a big difference.
Save energy
Washing my laundry at a colder temperature is a smart choice for my wallet and the planet. I can save up to 40% energy just by lowering the washing temperature from 40°C to 30°C.
Cold washing or at a low temperature isn’t just good for the planet and your pocket - it’s also more gentle on fabric and makes your clothes last longer!
Most of the time my laundry isn't dirty enough to need a high temperature wash. By washing my clothes at max 20°C, I can decrease the electricity needed by up to 70%.
I let my hair air-dry instead of using a hairdryer to save energy and time - and give my curls a boost! Running the hair dryer for 10 minutes is equivalent to running a TV for 6 hours and 40 minutes straight.
Save water
I use dry shampoo to keep my hair fresh for longer in between washes, saving water, energy - and my time.
Cold washing or at a low temperature isn’t just good for the planet and your pocket - it’s also gentler on fabric and makes I turn off the water when conditioning my hair or shaving. A running tap wastes approximately 6 litres per minute. Turning it off saves water, energy and money. An easy win! clothes last longer!

Using a conditioner that doesn't need washing out not only shortens my shower and saves me time, but also saves up to 12 litres of water per minute.

Recycle properly
I remove the sleeves from bottles before putting them in the bin - it makes the recycling precess easier and more efficient.
I buy solid shampoos for a plastic-free shower. Shampoo bar ingredients are more potent because they’re not diluted, so you get great results with less packaging and less water.
I reduce my plastic usage by using concentrate packs. I pour water into the empty bottle, add concentrate, put the lid on, and shake vigorously. Done!
I check product packaging so I know each part will be recycled properly. Things like pumps, springs, droppers, glass and plastic need to be separated or you risk them going to landfill.
Further Hacks
I choose products with packaging made from recycled materials: the higher the percentage the better! Bottles made of recycled plastic use much less energy during production than ones made from scratch with virgin plastic.
I only use the amount of product I need to lessen the impact on the environment. Most of the time, you only need a blob the size of a small coin.
