The timeless story of my grandmother's trousers
Slow fashion blogger Olga Federico runs her fingers lightly over her favourite item in her wardrobe – a fabulous pair of black and white palazzo trousers.
"My grandmother bought these trousers in a small boutique in Palermo," she says. "One day I visited her and browsed through her clothes as usual. I immediately fell in love with these trousers... so she gave them to me."
Olga smiles, her thoughts drifting to things beyond her reach - memories and the inseparable bond between two women.
"My grandmother is a strong, independent woman. She is a great inspiration and role model for me. She loves fashion and likes to wear patterns and bright colours. I love her so much and got my love of fashion from her."
In fact, it was this love that led Olga to start her successful slow fashion blog more than ten years ago. It's her little slice of the internet where she explores her passions and appreciation for clothes - how they are made, how they are styled and how they are inextricably intertwined with telling meaningful, personal stories.
She looks back at the trousers and caresses them tenderly again: "My grandmother and I don't get to see each other that often, but when I wear these trousers, I always think of her. They're my favourite item in my wardrobe because I can style them in so many ways and have so many good memories attached to them. When I wear them, I feel close to my grandmother; even when we're not together, she's always with me."
